What is the PLASTINARIUM?

In a laboriously restored former textile factory, visitors are afforded comprehensive insights into the anatomy of humans and animals, the processes of plastination and the various preparation techniques, over 3,000 square meters of exhibition space. In Guben, cutting-edge technology is used to produce educational specimens and ... large anatomical plastinates for the training of doctors and lay medical professionals.

As a public area of Gubener Plastinate GmbH, the PLASTINARIUM accomplishes Gunther von Hagens’ democratisation of anatomy by enabling medical laymen to learn using real human specimens.

In the educational workshop, schoolchildren, trainees and students can deepen their anatomical knowledge and prepare for exams using the provided plastinates, models, panels, computers and textbooks in self-study.

But these one-of-a-kind specimens also offer doctors, professors, healthcare professionals and medical companies a unique opportunity for practical training and professional development as well as research opportunities at a very high level.

Groups and Guided Tours

Group visits outside the regular opening hours are also possible from Monday to Thursday with or without guided tour, from 20 persons by appointment.
Guided tours are only available by appointment and for groups of 10 or more persons. Each group tour will be charged a one-off fee of EUR 70 in addition to the entrance fee. The tour lasts around 2 hours and looks at the areas of the history of anatomy and the plastination workshop with preparation and positioning. We recommend a maximum group size of 20 persons.
